How much floor does the job need?

Build thickness is the decision most people get wrong. Thicker is not always right, but thin is wrong under wheels.

How it goes

How do you coat a floor without closing the business?

1

Walk it with you

We measure, test for moisture, and find out what the floor carries and when. The shutdown window shapes the whole plan.

2

Phase the area

Most jobs run in bays or aisles so part of the floor stays working. Nights and weekends where that suits you better.

3

Grind and detail

Diamond grinding to an open profile, cracks routed and filled, joints detailed. Dust to a vacuum, wash water contained on site.

4

Build and hand back

Base, body coats to the specified build, then topcoat. We give you the real return-to-service time for the system used.

What commercial slabs are up against here

Traffic they were never poured for, mostly. A back-of-house slab in Atascocita Town Center or a shop unit off Beltway 8 takes forklift wheels, pallet drops and washdown on concrete specified as plain concrete. Add the ground underneath. Vamont and Atasco clay run maximum linear extensibility of 12.8 and 10.0 percent, so joints open and close through the year. Then there is water: Harvey flooded 154,170 homes in Harris County, and 68 percent of them sat outside the 1 percent floodplain, which tells you how little the map predicts. So we spec build to the traffic and detail the joints to keep moving.

Why us

What a commercial floor has to survive

Point loads, not foot traffic. A pallet corner dropped from six inches puts more into a slab than a year of walking. Build thickness and joint detailing are what answer that, and both get decided before anyone opens a pail.

    Built for the load

A thin roller coat under forklift wheels fails at the joints first. We spec to what the floor carries.

    Joints stay joints

Filled flat and coated over, a moving joint reopens through the finish within a season.

    Phased around you

Bay by bay, nights or weekends, so the floor comes back in pieces you can still work around.

    Clean site

Dust to a vacuum, wash water contained. Nothing reaches a storm drain.

  • Moisture tested before quoting
  • Joints detailed, not filled flat
  • Phased so you keep trading

Scheduling and downtime

Usually less than you think, because we phase it. A bay coated on a Friday night is often walkable Saturday and taking wheels by Monday. We plan the sequence around your shutdown window before we start.
Yes, and for occupied buildings it is normally the better call. Grinding is loud and the area has to stay clear while coatings go off. We price the hours honestly rather than hiding them.
It follows the traffic. Foot traffic and light carts are fine on a roller-build epoxy. Pallet jacks and forklifts want a high build. Docks, impact and hard wheels want a trowel-down mortar.
A properly built and ground floor will. The failures we get called to are nearly always thin coatings over an unground slab, and they let go at the joints and the turning circles first, not in the open floor.
Tell us what actually gets spilled and how long it sits. Epoxy handles most oils, detergents and coolants well. Strong acids and some solvents need a specific resin, and we would rather spec that than guess.

The floor and the spec

Often, in aisles and bays. Racking legs and anything bolted down get cut in by hand. It takes longer than an empty slab, so we say so at the quote instead of discovering it halfway through.
We can lay walkway lines, hatching and bay markings into the system so they sit under the topcoat rather than on top of it. Painted lines on top of a finished floor wear off where wheels turn.
It depends on the job, not the postcode. Atascocita is unincorporated Harris County, but tenant build-out can route to fire code review and floodplain rules can attach. Check with the County Engineer before you plan the shutdown.
Sometimes, and there is paperwork first. Repair inside a floodplain can count toward Harris County's substantial improvement threshold, and the coating counts toward the project total. Talk to the County Engineer early.
Yes. Humble, Kingwood, Crosby, Huffman, Sheldon, Channelview and Highlands are all regular. Anywhere else in Harris County, ask, and we will tell you straight if you fall outside what we cover.
